What we collect, and what we don't.
Last updated 2026-05-01.
Grocery Run Austin serves neighbors in vulnerable situations. We've built this site to collect as little information as possible, share none of it, and delete what we collect once we no longer need it.
This website
- No cookies. We don't set tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.
- No third-party tracking. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising networks.
- Privacy-respecting analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without identifying individuals or storing personal data.
- Self-hosted fonts. Fonts load from our own server, not from a third-party CDN.
If you submit the Get Assistance form
- What we collect: the contact info you provide (email and/or phone), your delivery address, and what your household needs.
- How we use it: only to coordinate and complete a grocery delivery to you.
- Where it goes: directly to our small team's inbox. We do not store it in any database, spreadsheet, or third-party CRM.
- How long we keep it: we delete the email containing your information within fourteen days of completing your delivery.
- Who we share it with: nobody. We never sell, trade, or share your information — including with other food assistance programs.
- Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6): contract / pre-contract — Article 6(1)(b) — together with our legitimate interest in supporting neighbors facing food insecurity (Article 6(1)(f)).
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam submissions. Turnstile is a privacy-respecting alternative to reCAPTCHA — it does not track you across the web.
If you volunteer or subscribe to updates
- What we collect: the contact info you give us; for volunteers, also your stated availability and interests.
- How we use it: only to follow up about volunteering, or to send you the updates you signed up for.
- How long we keep it: until you ask us to remove you, or until we lose contact for an extended period.
- Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6): consent — Article 6(1)(a). You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
If you donate
Donations are processed by Givebutter, a third-party payment platform. We never see or store your card information. Givebutter has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle your payment information.
Your rights
Wherever you live, we'll honor these requests. If you're in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with formal privacy law, these correspond to your rights under that law (e.g. GDPR Articles 15–22).
- Access — ask us what information we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your information.
- Restriction — ask us to stop processing your information while a question is resolved.
- Portability — ask us for a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent — for processing based on consent (e.g. newsletter), you can opt out at any time.
- Complain — lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. EU residents may contact their national data protection authority; UK residents may contact the ICO.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@groceryrunaustin.org. We aim to respond within thirty days.
Service providers we use
A few third parties process data on our behalf to keep the site and our email running. They are bound by data-processing agreements and use the data only as we instruct.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, blocks spam (Turnstile), and provides cookieless analytics. Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum.
- Purelymail hosts our email inbox. Purelymail privacy policy.
- Givebutter processes donations. Givebutter privacy policy.
Cloudflare and Purelymail are based in the United States. Donations through Givebutter are also processed in the United States.
What we can't promise
When you visit any website (including ours), the platforms that route the traffic — in our case Cloudflare and our domain registrar — keep operational logs (IP address, timestamp, request URL) for short periods. Same for our email host (Purelymail), which logs the metadata of emails our team receives. These logs exist for security and abuse prevention, not for tracking. We don't have access to them long-term and we don't use them to identify visitors.
